We received a very warm welcome from our hosts, Dany and Alain.  Neither spoke any English so it was an opportunity to use my French.  I was very nervous about using the language but they were very forgiving and persisted in talking with me.  They invited us to have a drink with them in their outdoor garden. We had a beer but they did not have a drink themselves.  They asked a little bit about us, I provided the translation for Bev and we were able to share a little about ourselves.  They have two sons, one of whom lives in Agen and the other in the Loire. They also had a couple grandchildren.

After our drink and with some directions from Alain, we walked to the Gap Cinema where the Madeleine Peyroux concert was being held.  It had a Bistro attached which apparently did reasonable food so we decided to eat there.  A very tasty meal appeared quickly giving us just enough time to get next door to the cinema and find ourselves a self select seat.

The concert started at 9pm and it was just like listening to Madeleine Peyroux on a CD.  She has a superb voice and the double bassist and the electric guitarist accompanying her were very accomplished musicians in their own right.  They also sang with her at times.  She came back for two encores and got a standing ovation.  For us both it was worth the diversion to Agen.  The venue was not too big and we had a good view of the performance.  It was a very pleasant evening.
